To park or not to park? That is the question New York motorists have been asking themselves since the first parking meter was installed on our city streets in the early 1950s. When faced with the predicament of risking a hefty fine or not parking in that spot, what is the motorist to do when relying on street parking?
Motorist Education is a new and innovative concept developed by the Parking Pal Company to solve this parking dilemma, inform New York drivers of their parking rights and avoid tickets in the first place. Parking Pal Motorist Educational Products offer New Yorkers a better and less expensive alternative to dealing with parking tickets than the old method - simply paying them without a fight.
Informally, I got started in the parking education and motorist rights business back while I was a student at Brooklyn College (Classes of 84 and 87). On occasion, I would get ticketed for being parked in violation of regulations that were non-existent or at a broken or missing parking meter. Even though back in the mid-80s parking tickets were about $25, as a college student, money was always scarce, and I certainly didnt need to give what little I had to the City.
So, armed with my camera, I would take pictures of the empty poles or missing or broken parking meters. More often than not, I would have my summonses dismissed.
Not until many years later, after formal legal training and working as a paralegal researcher, would I uncover the actual laws that entitled me to park legally and the working principles which I employed in these circumstances resulting in dismissed tickets. Upon discovering this information, learning the techniques of how to present my evidence and how to get parking tickets dismissed, a light bulb went off in my head, "This is what people should know to avoid tickets!" I knew I was on the right track when I saw New York Newsday run a front page story entitled "$19 Million in Parking Refunds, PVB Looks for Overpayers" (NY Newsday 4/18/94) during the very same week I picked up the first Parking Pal placards from the printer.
Combining this very public, yet hard-to-find information with my own experiences with the law, I created the Parking Pal Company. This is the only Motorist Education Company in New York City that offers an entire line of Parking Survival Products for those who drive and park their car in New York City.
Now you, the motorist, can benefit from my years of experience, research and desire to help others effectively avoid and fight parking tickets.
